Data packets can take alternative routes if a pathway is broken
Can withstand large amounts of data traffic
New systems can be added without disrupting the entire network
High amounts of traffic as multiple devices can transmit data simultaneously
Disadvantages of a mesh topology:
Can be expensive to install and maintain due to the large amount of cables required
Redundant cabling should be avoided to prevent unnecessary connections
Complex to install and staff needed
Total mesh topology where every node (connection) in the network is connected directly to all other nodes
Partial mesh topology has some nodes connected to only a small number of nodes whereas others are connected to all the other nodes
most robust
→ All nodes are connected to each other individually and each connection can carry own data load → Used in wireless networking, line of sight blocked, warehouses
