  • Preamble
    We, the sovereign Filipino people, imploring the aid of Divine Providence, in order to establish a Government that shall embody our ideals, promote the general welfare, conserve and develop the patrimony of our Nation, and secure to ourselves and our posterity the blessings of democracy under a regime of justice, peace, liberty, and equality, do ordain and promulgate this Constitution
  • Term of the President
    President shall be elected by direct vote of the people for a term of 6 years which shall begin at noon on the 30th day of June following the day of the election and shall end at noon of the same date 6 years thereafter when the term of his successor shall begin.

    growing communist insurgency, which was provided for the 1935 Constitution

    Citizen Assemblies allow the continuation of Martial Law and approved the amendments:
    (1) an Interim Batasang Pambansa to substitute for the Interim National Assembly
    (2) the president become the Prime Minister and continue exercise legislative powers until Martial Law was lifted

    used to handle protests, rebellions, or possible revolution. It may also be imposed when there is widespread chaos due to natural disasters, such as a hurricane or tornado
