Functions of CV system

Cards (13)

  • The functions are
    • transportation of nutrients
    • transportation of oxygen
    • removal of waste products
    • Clotting of wounds
    • regulation of body temperature
  • Transport of oxygen is when oxygen is carries to working muscles and vital organs for energy production
  • Removal of waste products is when carbon dioxide is carried out of the body as it is a by product
  • Transport of nutrients is when nutrients are broken down from the food we eat and teansported in the body through the blood
  • Clotting if open wounds is when platelets form a plug at a wound to stop bleeding
  • Regulation of body temperature is when the blood vessels vasodilate and vasoconstirct to change temperature
  • Semilunar valves are between the pulmonary artery and pulmonary vein
  • Vena cava is the main vein bringing deoxygenated blood back to the heart
  • Aorta is the main artery and carries oxygenated blood away from the left ventricle
  • Pulmonary artery receives deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle to take to the lungs
  • Pulmonary vein brings oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left atriumx
  • Oxygenated blood goes in the pulmonary vein and out the aorta
  • Deoxygenated blood goes In the vena cava and out the pulmonary artery
