Cell structure

Cards (10)

  • Cell Membrane - controls the movement of substances in and out of the cell
  • Nucleus - contains genetic material and controls the activities of the cell.
  • Cytoplasm - where most of the chemical reactions take place.
  • Mitochondria - Site of aerobic respiration.
  • Ribosomes - Site of protein synthesis in the cell.
  • Vacuole - contains cell sap and is found in plant cells, provides structural support.
  • Choloroplasts - Site of photosynthesis, converting light energy into chemical energy. Contains Chlorophyll.
  • Cell wall - Provides structural support, protection and maintains cell shape, in plants made of cellulose.
  • Cilia - Short hairs that move in a wave motion to move substances along cell surface
  • Flagella - Long, thin, whip-like structures that are used for movement.
