• The internet is a global network of computers that allows users to access and share information electronically.
• 1960s: the earliest form of the internet started out as Advanced Research Project Agency Network (ARPANET) it come from 2 things; the name of the funding organization the US Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (ARPA) and NET for network.  It was used back then used to connect government research and development sites
• 1975s: Computers were linked together using the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). They needed a protocol , a language to find a way for computers to talk to another.
• 1980s: more of the college and universities have connected to the internet.
• 1990s: internet was made to the public
• 1991s: Tim Berners-Lee, a computer programmer from Switzerland invented the World Wide Web then the internet not only became a way to save files but to “access the web of information”.
• Present:  All types of computers have access to the internet, mobile  phones, tablets, and a lot of new inventions, machines and appliances, known as Internet of Things (IOT)
• Broadband has digital subscriber line or DSL, Cable and Fiber. It is much faster than dial up.
• Mobile is wireless, it can be accessed through smartphones and other gadgets. It also supports 3g, 4g and 5g.
