• • Jews believe evil originates from first sin of Adam and Eve - serpent tempted Eve to eat off Tree of Knowledge against God’s wishes.
• • Some believe Satan = not a separate being but a tendency existing in every human which Temps to do wrong .
  • Born with inclination to be good but also with impulse to do wrong.
• God gave free will, but Judaism teaches they will be punished for committing evil with death and destruction and rewarded for resisting temptation with protection and prosperity.
• Evil occurs when people make wrong choices but God can use suffering to disciple, test or punush.
• STORY OF JOB

  • Even the most righteous people can experience suffering through evil.
  • God sends suffering to test Job’s faith, but Jib doesn’t understand. He learns to accept things as they are and it to question God.
• The Talmud shoes worshipping idols is evil as it’s same as denying God.
• In Avodah Zarah 3b, the rules regarding idol worship and interacting with those that practise it are discussed.
• Talmud says, “a person is obligated to bless upon the bad just as he blesses upon the good.“ As it says, ”And you shall love the Lord your God and all your heart and all your soul and all that you have.” (Berakhot 9:5)
• Teaches Jews to welcome good and evil in their lives in a similar way, as God sent both and have purpose.
