Cyclic Electron flow

Cards (6)

  • Cyclic e- Flow
    ONLY at P700 (PSI)
  • P700 (reaction center) absorbs a photon
    • high energy e-
    • e- transferred to primary e- acceptor, the ferredoxin molecule
    • e- cycles through a cytochrome complex of ETC causing process to happen over and over again
  • This separate cycle (not related to linear e- flow)

pumps H+, creating a gradient which creates ATP
  • e- goes down ETC (separate from LEF) until it comes back to its original place P700
  • summary
    • only PSI (P700)
    • e- cycled through sep system
    • H+ pumped causing gradient
    • Eventual ATP production
    • P700 creates ATP only in a cycle e- flow NOT linear e- flow
  • No O2 because there is no photolysis
How does it fill its void? fIlled because it goes in a cycle
