  • Badminton

  • Forehand grip
    The thumb and pointing fingers wrapped around the handle forming a letter V while the rest of the fingers are spread supporting the bottom part of the handle
  • Backhand grip
    The fingers are moved slightly to place the thumb pressing flat on the flat side of the handle while the rest of the fingers are positioned together
  • Badminton is the fastest of all racket sports, requiring strong agility, good coordination and stamina

    Shot done with the stroke above the head, the shuttle travelling up targeting the long service line; usually done to give the player time to return to base position
  • Smash
    A powerful attack so that the shuttlecock travels in steeply downwards at a great speed into the opponent's court
  • Drop shot
    Shot usually done with the stroke above the head, the shuttle travelling up but dropping just near; usually done for placing purposes
  • Drive
    The shuttlecock must be hit on a straight line just inches above the net into the opponent's court
  • Net Drop
    Hitting the shuttlecock into the opponent's forecourt, close as possible to the net
  • Underhand shot
    The shot must be done with a stroke below for about waist-level, not exceeding the head, and the shuttle must travel upward
  • BASIC RULES OF BADMINTON
    • A match shall consist of the best of three games wherein a game shall be won by the side which first scores 21 points

    If the score become 29-all, the side scoring the 30th point shall win that game
