  • G1 phase: cell growth before DNA replication - cell grows physically larger and copies organelles
  • S phase: DNA replication - cell synthesises a complete copy of DNA nucleus and duplicates centromeres
  • G2 phase: cell prepares for division - makes proteins and organelles
