Perimenopause
The transition period a woman experiences before reaching the menopause (when the ovaries stop making eggs). It is the gradual decrease in production of oestrogen in the ovaries.
Perimenopause usually happens in the early 40s but can happen in the mid late 30s. It lasts 4 years approx
The perimenopause is said to have finished when a woman has not had a period for 12 months
