creation

• the story of creation is set out in Genesis in which God to be the creator of the world out of nothing - ex nihilo. it was designed and made, it did not come about by accident and god was the designer and maker of the universe. first words in the bible state, 'in the beginning, god created the heavens and the earth'
• literal christians understand that the world was created in 6 days of 24 hours. whereas liberal christians believe the world was created in 6 time periods rather than 24 hours. they are accepting of the theory of evolution and support theistic-guided evolution (the idea god activated and hides evolution)
• Adam was made from 'the dust of the ground' when God breathed life (soul) into him. eve was created out of one of Adams ribs to provide companionship and help in sustaining the earth and acting as stewards
• humans can be seen as the high point of creation and have been created in the image of god, imago dei. which is shown through the quote 'so God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of god he created him'
