• the holy spirit is one aspect one aspect of the Trinity which is connected with life and the soul. the word 'spirit' comes from the latin word spirare, meaning 'to breathe', which is linked with the creation of humans in Genesis when god breathed life into Adam.
• closely associated with the life and death of Jesus. when the birth of Jesus was announced, Mary was told that she will become pregnant through the Holy Spirit.
• after Jesus' ascension to heaven, god sent the Holy Spirit or 'Paraclete' (helper/counsellor) into the world. it guides christians to live their lives in the best way possible
• Jesus taught his disciples that the Holy Spirit would be with them to remind then of his teachings after death. as the bible states 'the Holy Spirit, whom the father will send in my name, will teach you all the things and remind you of everything I have said to you'
