Peace and Conflict - Just war theory

• • Conflict = disagreement between two or more people.
• • When conflict happens on a national or international scale, it is war.  
• • Christianity teaches that people should live alongside each other in mutual tolerance. (However most accept that war is sometimes inevitable.)
• • Jesus says that even anger and hatred are destructive.
• • Many Bible references oppose violent conflict.  
• • Jesus urges his followers to avoid and actively try to stop conflict.
• • (C13) St Thomas Aquinas developed rules that, if fulfilled, would mean the war taking place was justified. (A Just War).
