Salah

• Salah is an important pillar of Islam and Muslims are expected to pray 5 times a day. Important that Muslims are spiritually clean before they pray ( wudu)
• "You who believe , when you are about to pray, wash your faces and your hands up to elbows, wipe your heads and wash your feet up to the ankles and , if required wash your whole body"
• Shia muslims combine the midday and afternoon prayers and sunset and night prayers, so they pray the same , but only 3 times a day. There are also a few differences in movements in Sunni and Shia salah. Shias muslims also place a clay tablet where they prostrate
• Prayers in a mosque are led by an imam, men and women pray in separate areas. Jummah prayer is a prayer that is compulsory for men.
• Prayer is important because:

  Muslims have been commanded by god to pray

  It helps muslims to become close to God

  It motivates muslims to do Gods will

  It unites muslims around the world
• "So woe to those who pray but are heedless of their prayer"
• "Your Lord says, 'Call on me and i will answer you"
• "When the call to prayer is made on the day of congregation, hurry towards the reminder of God and leave off your trading"
