Deuteronomy 30:15-19

• • Jews believe God created humans with free will so they could choose whether to worship him.
  • People are born with the inclination to do good (yetzer ha tov)
  • Also the impulse to do wrong (yetzer ha ra)
• • Evil exists due to people making the wrong choices
• • Evil comes from God, as he can use it to cause suffering to discipline, punish or test people. 
• JOB (the Jewish Bible)

  • Even the most righteous people can experience suffering through evil.
  • God sends suffering to test Job’s faith, but Job doesn't understand. He learns to accept things as they are.  
• • the punishment for being tempted by evil is death and destruction,
  • The reward for resisting temptation is protection and prosperity.
