Biology

Cards (12)

  • Cytoplasm
Contains organelles and chemical reactions take place within it.
  • Cell membrane
supports and allows some substances to enter while keeping others out, called a semi-permeable membrane
  • Nucleus
Contains genetic material (chromosomes which control all activity of the cell)
  • Mitochondria
Converts glucose into energy through cellular respiration
  • Endoplasmic reticulum

A network of membrane-covered channels that transport materials made in the cell; is connected to the nucleus
  • Golgi body
Sorts and packages proteins for travel outside of the cell, secretes substances
  • Vacuole
Contain water and other materials and are used to store or transport small molecules, maintain internal pressure of cell (turgor)
  • Cell wall

A porous structure made out of cellulose which helps to protect the internals of the cell
  • Chloroplast
Contain chlorophyll and give plants the green colour, most importantly they absorb the sun's energy for photosynthesis
  • Ribosome
    Help produce proteins
  • Cell
Made up of smaller components called organelles
  • Organelle
Structure that carries out specific functions to support the life of a cell.
