    • One problem in kaiser germany before WW1 was that it was very undemocratic
    • Kaiser Wilhelm II wanted to make Germany into a world superpower, but he did not want to listen to anyone else's ideas or opinions.
    • In 1906, the Reichstag passed a law which meant that they could vote on laws without the Kaiser having to approve them first
    • the Kaiser appointed his own chancellor who would be responsible for running the country on behalf of him
    • Problematic since the kaiser was unpredicatable
    • Another problem was that the kaiser germany was very unpredictable
    • despite the fact it produced more iron steel and coal then britan
    • its workers suffered from low wages and working conditions
    • as a result they joined trade union and went on strike and supported a political party called social demicrats
    • another problem was that Kaisers Germany was very militaristic
    • the armed forces encourged the Kaiser to pass navey laws that incresed the number of big battleships
    • They hoped the battleships would challenge the British navy and increase the size of its empire and turn Germany into a world class power policy called weltpolitik
    • Navy laws were important since inside Germany they led to criticism that the money could have been better spent improving lives on the German workers
    • Outside Germany they started an arms race with Britian that led to WW1
