• most common types of clouds are:

  • cirrus: high, white, wispy clouds (composed of ice crystals)
  • cumulus: fluffy, cottonwool type clouds
  • stratus: layers of cloud
  • altostratus: high layers of cloud, often bring snow
  • cumulonimbus: billowing storm clouds
• cloud cover is measured in 1/8s or Oktas- eg full cloud cover is 8/8 or 8 Oktas
