      •  if more effective treatments can be developed for psychological health problems then this means that people will be able to return to work and this reduces the burden on the employers, NHS and taxpayer.

      • if effective ways of influencing people to change their behaviours can be found, then people can be prevented from drinking and smoking, reducing their risk of ill health and thus death such that they are more likely to be able to work, allowing them to contribute to the economic prosperity of the country.

      Better eyewitness testimony and cognitive interviews lead to a more efficient justice system
    • childhood development 

      • understanding attachment allows us to create and apply interventions to children at risk of insecure attachment so that they can develop into productive adults.
