  • Never drink, eat, nor smoke inside the laboratory room.
  • Perform only assigned experiments and in the presence of your instructor.
  • Before doing any laboratory work.
    1. Read carefully the objectives and the procedure of the experiment.
    2. Prepare the materials needed in the experiment.
  • When performing experiments,
    1. strictly follow the directions to obtain reliable results.
    2. Record observations and results immediately.
    3. Always have your experiment results checked by your instructor as you finish the procedure you are working on.
    4. Use minimum amount of reagents and avoid wastage in gas and water.
  • Observe the rules on cleanliness in the laboratory.
    1. Keep your working area clean and orderly. Wash any spilled acid or alkali on top of your table with plenty of water and wipe with clean rag immediately.
    2. Dispose pieces of paper and other insoluble materials in waste cans, not into the sink.
    3. Small amount of corrosive liquids and solvents may be flushed down the sink with plenty of water.
  • 6. Observe the rules on laboratory safety.
    1. Take extra care precautions in handling concentrated acids and alkalis. Avoid spilling them on clothes or on any part of your body.
    2. Never use mouth suction in filling up pipettes.
    3. Protect your hands with a piece of cloth when inserting tubing into stoppers.
    4. Avoid smelling fumes of any kind. When asked to smell something, place the vessel away from your face and fan the vapor towards your nose.
    5. Volatile and flammable solvents must be kept away from open flame.
    6. Always inform your instructor of any accident of fire immediately.
    7. Never taste any chemical
