Cards (10)

  • Alternate Hand Wall Toss Test Protocol:

    • A line is marked out 2 meters away from a flat wall.
    • Stand facing the wall behind the line.
    • Throw the ball underarm against the wall from right to left hand. Alternate the hands from right to left and left to right.
    • Count the number of completed catches in 30 seconds
  • Alternate Hand Wall Toss Test Equipment:
Tennis ballStopwatch • Assistant to time and count • Tape measure • Cones • Suitable wall to complete the test against.
  • Alternate Hand Wall Toss Test Validity:

    • This is a valid test to measure hand eye coordination only. It does not measure other aspects of coordination such as foot-eye which would be more relevant for footballers for example.
  • Alternate Hand Wall Toss Test Reliability:
    • If completed outside, the weather can affect the results (if it is windy, it may affect the flight of the ball).
    • If the test is not completed against a flat wall, it can affect the results as the ball may deflect in different directions.
  • Alternate Hand Wall Toss Test Practicality:

Cheap equipment and easy to run. Lots of athletes can take part in one go
  • Stick Flip Coordination Test Protocol:

    • A stick is held in each hand at waist level so that the sticks are horizontal
. • A third stick is placed across the two hand-held sticks.
    • The subject then attempts to flip the balanced stick so that it turns one half of a rotation and lands back on the two hand‐held sticks.
    • The subject should attempt five half-flips with one point scored for each successful attempt.
    • Once this has been achieved, they can attempt 5 full flip rotations which is worth 2 points
  • Stick Flip Coordination Test Equipment:
    Three sticks (60 cm long).
  • Stick Flip Coordination Test Validity:

    • Valid test for hand eye coordination but not for foot eye coordination
  • Stick Flip Coordination Test Reliability:
    • If the sticks are not to the required length (60cm) the results may be unreliable
  • Stick Flip Coordination Test Practicality
Cheap and quick to run with minimal equipment. • Lots of athletes can take part if there are enough sticks
