Levers and gears

Cards (6)

  • Levers reduce the force needed to get the same moment
  • Levers push one end down of a lever, and rotation around the pivot causes the other end to rise. This is the turning effect of a force.
  • Gears have circular clogs with 'teeth' around the edges
  • Interlocked gears will rotate at different speeds, depending on the size. The larger the gear, the slower it spins.
  • Teeth interlock with each other, causing both to turn as they're linked.
  • A force applied to a small gear creates a small moment
