    • Economic:
      ignoring the cause of crime during sentencing might worsen the situation. For instance, fining someone who stole food due to desperation can lead to more debt and poverty, pushing them further towards criminal activity
    • Community:
      • Is it fair to punish someone if their peers pressured them into a crime. What is they were threatened onto it and the get punished while the people that pressured them got away without punishment.
      • Community is a known cause of crime, so more money should be put into bettering these communities instead of letting this factor be a continuous problem
    • Family:
      • we cannot help what family we are born into, so why be punished unfairly if you were at a disadvantage to begin with
      • Some people might not have a family that taught them right from wrong, so is it fair to punish them if they haven’t been taught any better
    • Mental health issues:
      • is it fair to punish someone if they cannot control the way their mind works, or if they have mental issues or not
      • is it fair to punish people for a committing a crime, if they have been suffering from mental health issues and didn’t receive they help they needed?
    • Are people born bad:
      Is it fair to give the same punishment to someone who was born bad and cant help it vs people committing malicious crime
