Natural selection

• There is genetic variation within a species

• 3)Individuals with characteristics which are better adapted to the change will survive. This is survival of the fittest or natural selection
• 4) The survivors breed and pass on their genes
• 5) Over time natural selection continues to favour those with genes more adapted to survive who continue to breed leading to a change in the species. This is the evolution of new species
