Other anthropologists who have violated the codes of ethics are Bronislaw Malinowski, he did this during his research on the Trobriander’s of Papua New Guinea in the 1980’s. He violated the ethics by having sexual liaisons with several of the women there. He was also racist and used discriminatory terms to explain the Trobriander’s. He had an ethnocentric approach to their lifestyle and judged their culture. He did not gain consent to study them either. However, this was in the eighties when the code of ethics had not yet been fully developed.
