  • Gas exchange takes place in the alveoli

  • Adaptations of alveoli:
    • Large surface area to increase the amount of diffusion
    • Thin walls allow gasses to pass through
    • Good blood supply so that oxygen can be passed into the bloodstream more sufficiently
