  • Grasslands are generally flat, having either few trees
    and shrubs or very open woodland. They generally have quite high biodiversity.
  • Grasslands receive around 500 to 900 millimeters of rain per year.
  • The average temperature of grassland biomes is -20˚C - 30˚C
  • The soil of the temperate grasslands is deep and dark, with fertile upper layers.
  • Grasslands are generally open and fairly flat, and they exist on every continent except Antarctica. Temperate grasslands occur in the middle latitudes (25-55˚) of the northern and southern hemispheres.
  • Grassland Climographs have less rain in winter and more rain in summer (two distinct seasons). Temperatures are higher in the summer.
  • Grasslands occur in a variety of altitudes, from sea level to high altitudes.
