    DSM-IV:
    • Specific Phobia.
    • Social Phobia.
    • Agoraphobia.

    Behavioural Characteristics:
    • Panic - crying, screaming, running.
    • Avoidance - preventing contact w/ phobic stimulus, makes life harder.
    • Endurance - chooses remain in presence of phobic stimulus.

    Emotional Characteristics:
    • Anxiety - high arousal, prevents relaxation (long-term).
    • Fear - immediate, unpleasant response when encounter p.s. (short-term).
    • Emotional Response is Unreasonable - anxiety/fear greater than normal.

    Cognitive Characteristics:
    • Selective Attention to P.S. - fixation on p.s. to react quickly; interrupts w/ daily life.
    • Irrational Belief - unfounded thoughts about p.s., can‘t be explained, no basis in reality.
    • Cognitive Belief - inaccurate, unrealistic perception.
