• abnormally thick sticky mucus in the lungs
• Persistent coughing and excessive sweating leading to salty skin. A huge appetite and poor weight gain
• prone to lung infections e.g pneumonia
• growth is stuned
• infertile in men and women
• 40 years reduced life expectancy
• limited socialising- absence from school
• unlikely to be in sport - tire easily & lack energy

  therefore reduce socialising and physical activity
• absence from work
• Positive relationships with doctors etc
• Can't be within 6ft of other CF patients
• Daily physiotherapy can be distressing for young children
• stress depression and anxiety due to the reduced life expectancy
• 'live life to the full' attitude
