Characteristics

• 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹:

  • excessive and repetitive ritualistic behaviour
  • compulsions take up atleast one hour of the day
  • compulsions reduce anxiety
• 𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥:

  • the anxiety
  • negative emotions such as guilt or disgust
  • can be accompanied by depression
• 𝗖𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲

  • obsessions
  • intrusive and repetitive thoughts, urges or images that cause distress
  • cant suppress thoughts, urges or images
  • they know the obsessions are excessive and unreasonable
  • hyper vigilant on constant sleet for potential danger
