Mitosis is the process by which a cell replicates its chromosomes and then segregates then, produce two identical nuclei in preperation for cell division.
Mitosis is a process wherein cells duplicate 2 daughter cells from a parent cell.
Stages of Mitosis: Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase.
centromere - where the cutting of the chromosomes happen.
kinetochore - protein extension. This is where the spindle fiber would attach to.
Metaphase - the chromosomes align in the center of the cell.
Anaphase - the sister chromosomes are seperated/pulled into the opposite pole.
Telophase - The chromosomes uncoil. Chromosomes reach the opposite pole. The nuclear envelope reappears or builds up. Spindle Fibers disintegrates. Dividing of cytoplasm.
cytokinesis - Happens at the same time as the telophase. The division of cytoplasm.
Examples of why Mitosis is significant is cell growth, growth and development, cell repair.
