    A barrier between God and humans.
  • Why do humans need redemption?
    • God created humans with free will -> can choose to disobey God (sin)
    • Humans have ‘Original sin’
  • What is Original Sin?
    • Inherited sin from Adam and Eve -> Genesis 2
    • A natural tendency to sin
  • What does Redemption mean?
    It’s the way in which the damage caused by Sin is repaired
  • Why is redemption important to Christians?
    It leads to the restoration of the relationship between God and humans and allows humans to enjoy eternal life with God in Heaven
  • What does Salvation mean?
    To be ‘saved’ from sin and the consequences of sin.
  • What does atonement mean?
    To ‘make up’ for something that was done or damage caused
  • What did Jesus do?
    Jesus ‘atones’ for our sins and repairs the damage caused.
  • What are the 5 parts of Jesus' redemption?
    1. Death
    2. Burial
    3. Resurrection
    4. Ascension
    5. Pentecost
  • Why was Jesus‘ death significant to redemption?
    • Jesus showed perfect obedience to the will of God by allowing himself to be crucified -> countered the disobedience of human sin
    • Jesus offered himself as a ‘sacrifice’ which opened the way to God
