Monoclonal antobodies

Cards (2)

  • Hybridoma technology principle
    • forming hybrid cell lines by fusing a specific antibody-producing B cell with a myeloma cell
    • antibodies produced by the hybridoma specific to a single antigen and therefore monoclonal antibodies
  • Recombinant DNA process
Isolate the gene from the donor then
    Plasmid donor (bacterial plasmid) isolated
Plasmid opened with restriction enzyme and the gene of interest is then inserted and recombined using DNA ligase to create bonds between the ends of the DNA fragment.
When DNA is inserted into host cell, its called transformation.
Then we have gene transcription into mRNA, followed by translation into the protein.
