Macbeth was evil which was why the witches targeted him. "unseam'd him from the nave to the chaps."
"I have no spur / To prick the sides of my intent, but only / Vaulting ambition" - Macbeth is ambitious.
He immediately thought about killing the king after hearing the prophecy, foreshadows his inherent evil.
"If chance may have me king, why chance may crown me without my stir." Shows how eager he was to become king. He immediately wanted to become king and was trying to persuade himself by calling fate chance.
He understands what morally good behaviour was but he also sees that he was going to become King anyway. Banquo acts as a foil and makes him doubt killing the king but Lady Macbeth ends up convincing him.
