Quantum Numbers, their properties and significance

Cards (5)

  • Planetary Model - The model was proposed by physicist Niels Bohr in 1913. In this model, the electrons travel around the nucleus of an atom in distinct circular orbits, or shells.
  • Principal Quantum Number - This number describes the energy
level of an electron inside an atom.
  • Magnetic Quantum Number - This number describes the orbital within a sublevel.
  • Electron Spin - direction of the intrinsic quantum “spinning” of the electron
  • Angular momentum Quantum Number - This number describes the shape of the sublevel within an energy level.
