Microorganisms and diseases

• Very small things are called microbes or microorganisms
• organisims means living things , and micro because they are very small
• All living things have to carry out the seven life processes
• Viruses are not classified as living as they only do one life characteristic which is reproduction
• The four pathogens are: bacteria , fungi , protozoa , virus
• A microorganism is an organism that is too small to be seen by the naked eye
• Bacteria has features like single cell , range of different shapes, made of cells , reproduce
• bacteria produces diseases like salmonella, streptococcus, tuberculosis
• virus has features of, being small, genetic materia , not cells , no nucleus
• virus produces diseases of, cold virus , flu , measles , chickenpox
• Fungi has features of, some being made of single cells , having a cell wall , having a vacuole
• fungi produces these disease, athletes foot, yeast, penicillin, ringworm
• Protozoa has these feature, has animal and plant cell , cell wall, vacuole , chloro plast
• A disease that Protozoa produces is malaria
• We have to wash our hands to prevent any bacteria entering our system or the food we cook
