Allegorical Novella-Story or novella intended to teach 
Dickens used this novella as he wanted to dispel the prejudices towards the lower class to his upper class readership
Redemption-being saved from sin 
Scrooge is pleading for his life back. Eventually this happens in stave 5 when he is granted redemption through his willingness to become a benevolent and charitable member to society.
Parsimonious-being selfish 
In stave one,Scrooge is the epitome of being parsimonious - he is stingy and frugal especially with his money.
