      The outward appearance of the Macbeths' as trustworthy and innocent enables them to get away with their plot to murder Duncan and ascend to the throne. This is later juxtaposed by the ultimate betrayal.

      • Macbeth appears to be the perfect subject and kinsman
      • "Valiant" -> associated with honour and nobility.
      • Dramatic irony as we soon see that Macbeth doesn't remain true to his valiant nature.
      • showing that the way someone appears doesn't reveal anything about whats underneath the surface.

      • Shows Macbeth's downfall & how his guilt is playing with his mind.
      • He is consumed by the murder and tries to command the supernatural.
      • Macbeth is unaware of the lessons being taught to him and continues to abuse his power despite being warned.

    • QUOTE ANALYSIS;
      • provides Macbeth with security in his position of power.
      • he abuses his power and carries himself with arrogance
    • "untimely ripped"
    • QUOTE ANALYSIS;
      • Macduff is the exception to the apparition & has the ability to remove Macbeth from his position in society.
      • the witches deceived by the witches, his corrupt mindset forced him to his downfall
