  • Crude Birth Rate

    The number of live births per 1000 of the population
  • Crude Death Rate
    The number of deaths per 1000 persons each year
  • Fertility Rate

    The number of children born for every 1000 women of child bearing age (usually between 15 and 49)

    The number of the population caused by more births than deaths at a given period

    The average years an individual is expected to live

    Compares the number of dependences with the number of economically able people in a society

    A measure of the quality of life in a country by averaging three statistics - basic literacy rate, infant mortality, and life expectancy at age one
  • Human Development Index

    A composite index measuring average achievement in three basic dimensions of human development – a long and healthy life, knowledge, and a decent standard of living (UNDP 2002, 265)
