  • the british broadcasting corporation is a public service broadcaster, this means it is paid for in a license fee by the British public. The BBC have a remit or commitment to its license paying public to provide- DIVERSE ORIGINAL INNOVATIVE content to its programmes.
  • They bought The Killing as a part of their commitment to quality programming as part of the BBC's remit- 'to enrich people's lives with programmes and services that inform, educate and entertain'
  • The BBC felt it offered high quality television with social and cultural value to UK audiences as it was educational about Danish culture. The show expanded diversity in the UK which would be accessible and relatable through a European culture in the UK at the time, (before leaving the EU)
