• preferred reading- audiences enjoy everything about the show including the feminist ideology,
• negotiated reading- audiences enjoy parts of it but not the patriarchal elements eg violence to women
• rejected/oppositional reading- audiences do not enjoy the show perhaps due to the violence or their own personal beliefs or prejudices eg a woman could not be a realistic lead detective. some may interpret it as depicting the chaos created when women leave home and focus on their job.
