• the series stars actress Joanna Scanlan as the main protagonist, Detective Inspector Viv Deering of the Manchester police. she is represented as a strong female character who can behave in a masculine way, (gender fluidity butler), can behave in a rude way when dealing with male officers such as acting aggressively and using crude language. She is seen as gender fluid as she is also seen to have shown her nurturing mothering side in the show which is more feminine.
