• A - Relieved burden on families, stopped stigma of going to workhouse in last years. Government taking responsibility.

  Not all entitled, must be British, no prison last ten years and never have accepted poor relief before.
• EV- Liberals acknowledged problem of poverty in the old. Ensured old had money when retired.

  Not universal as help for young.

  Strict criteria, must be over 70.
