• Enculturation: the process of adopting the skills and cultural norms and the schemas of culture, influencing thinking and behavior
• schemas of our culture develops through daily interactions with the other members of the group, this process is also known as socialization
• enculturation can occur through: observational learning, participatory learning, and direct tuition
• participatory learning: children engage in activity and transfer that learning to later situation
• direct tuition: rewards and punishments from parents or other gatekeepers in society
• A form of enculturation is gender role, which is a social role that is assigned to a person based on their biological sex
