Cards (7)

  • Describe how an impulse travels to the neurone
    1. impulse arrives at presynaptic neurone
    2. vesicle fuses with presynaptic membrane, releases neurotransmitters into synaptic cleft
    3. neurotransmitters diffuse
    4. neurotransmitters attach to receptors
    5. impulse is triggered & neurotransmitters are recycled or destroyed once impulse is sent
  • stages of development
Childhood: neural connection developed, dense synapse in PFC
Adolescence: grey matter at maximum density, maturation of limbic system, pfc
  • assimilation
Using existing schema to deal with new object
  • Accommodation
Existing schema doesn’t work and needs to be changed to deal with new object
  • Decentration
Identifying multiple properties of an object simultaneously
  • Praise for effort
    Encourages person to improve
  • Praise for intelligence
Limiting & no room for development
