  • physical self - concrete dimension of the body. The tangible aspects of the person which can be directly observed and examined

  • prenatal period - conception occurs and development begins. All majors' structures of the body are forming, and the health of the mother is of primary concern. Labor and delivery are primary concerns
  • infancy and toddler period - dramatic growth and change. Newborn with keen sense of hearing but very poor vision
  • early childhood - also referred as the preschool years, this is the period of a child's life from birth to 6 years old
  • three- to five-year-old - child is busy learning knowledge, is gaining a sense of self and greater independence and is beginning to learn the workings of the physical world
  • preschoolers - may initially have interesting conceptions of size, time, space and distance such as fearing
  • middle schoolers - age of 6 to 11 experience is connected to their involvement in the early grade school years
  • adolescence - dramatic physical change marked by an overall physical growth spurt and sexual maturation, known as puberty
  • early adulthood - 20s - 30s tend to love to hear they're young adult. Love & work are primary concerns at this stage of life, projecting a better image
  • middle adulthood - late 30s- mid 60s. Aging that began earlier, becomes more noticeable. At their peak of productivity in love & work
  • late adulthood - is subdivided by 2 young old & old old
  • young old - people between 65 & 79 are very similar to midlife, adult still working, still relatively healthy & skill interested
  • old old - 80 & older remain productive, but risks of the diseases of old age
  • body image - the way we perceive our own body and how we think it looks to others
  • imaginary audience - egocentric state were the individual imagines and believes that many people are actively listening or watching him, known as spotlight effect
  • halo effect - people rate attractive individuals more favorably for their personality traits
  • introspection & self-reflection - making self-examination after behaving in a certain way. Looking inward is the simplest way to achieve self-knowledge. Overestimate their positive aspects

  • self-perception theory - people develop their attitude by observing their own behavior & concluding what attitudes must have caused it
