• Verb - Is an action word
• Modal verbs - are used to express certain hypothetical conditions
• Modal verbs are used alongside a main verb to inflect its meaning

• Ability - able to do something
• The modal verb "can" express wether the subject of a sentence is able to do something
• The modal verb "cannot" or "can't" shows that the subject is unable to do something
• The past tense of the word "can" is "could"
• Permission - asking permission to do something
• Request - asking someone else to do something
• Suggestion or Advice - to recommend a course of action but not command it
• Obligation or Necessity - an express of a necessary action
• The modal verb "may" is a type of permission
• The modal verbs "will" and "would" are types of a request
• The modal verb "should" is a type of a Suggestion or Advice
• The modal verb "must", "have", and "need" are types of a Obligation or Necessity
