• In order to determine what factor is affecting a chemical reaction, you must only change one variable at a time
• If you only change one variable at a time you are carrying out a fair test
• Factors affecting rate of reaction

  Slow reaction:

  • Large particles
  • Low concentration
  • Low temperature
• Factors affecting rate of reaction

  Fast reaction:

  • Small particles
  • High concentration
  • High temperature
