moscovicis experiment on minority influence

      to investigate if a minority could influence the majority even is the task was unambiguous (it was clear)

      he got 172 female ppts from America. He split them into groups of 6. In each group there was 2 confederates (minority) and 4 ppts (majority) He showed ppts 36 slides of different shades of blue. He had 2 conditions. condition 1 was consistent, this is where the confederates said that all 36 slides were green. Condition 2 was inflexible: this is where the confederates said that 24 slides were green and 12 were blue.

      he found that in the consistent conditions that ppts agreed on 8.2% of trials. In the inconsistent condition he found that ppts agreed 1.25% of the trails. The consistent condition was 6.95% effective than the inconsistent condition
    • conclusions of moscovicis experiment
      consistency plays a big role in the strength of minority influence. And despite the answer being wrong the influence of the minority was stronger than people thought.
