    = The only amoeba with 3 MORPHOLOGIC FORMS
    • Cysts, Tropozoite, and Flagellate
    = Laboratory Diagnosis:
    • Microscopic Examination of CEREBRO SPINAL FLUID (CSF)
    • Samples of tissues and nasal discharge
  • Cyst stage of N. fowleri
    = Size: 9-12 um
    = Shape: ROUND WITH THICK CELL WALLS
  • Tropozoite Stage of N. fowleri
    = Size: 8-22 um
    = Motility: SLUGLIKE with BLUNT PSEUDOPODS
  • Flagellate Stage of N. fowleri
    = Size: 7-15 um
    = Shape: PEAR-SHAPED FLAGELLATE
    = Flagella: TWO WHIP LIKE STRUCTURE
    = Motility: JERKY MOVEMENTS or SPINNING
  • Clinical Manifestation of PRIMARY AMEBIC MENINGOENCEPHALITIS
    = Causes RAPID TISSUE DESTRUCTION
